Lucca & Pisa from La Spezia
This excursion from the port of La Spezia is perfect for families and active adults wanting a shorter touring day with minimal driving. The walled city of Lucca has something for everyone — amazing architectural points of interest (most notably the ancient wall that still surrounds the city, transformed into a beautiful pedestrian green space), great shopping, excellent food, pretty piazzas, a botanical garden, fascinating history.
Our itinerary includes a brief stop in Pisa to take photos of the Leaning Tower and other monuments on the Field of Miracles.
Time and energy permitting, we can allot more time to Pisa, which is a handsome city (rarely given credit for) with many points of interest beyond the Leaning Tower, such as Keith Haring's "Tuttomondo" mural painted on the side of a church. In the charming street of Borgo Stretto there is a fabulous bakery, Salza, where you can relax on the terrace and enjoy a pastry and beverage. If you prefer shopping over treats, there is always Corso Italia, Pisa's main shopping street.
